  • Glassdoor

“Job seekers rely on the integrity and authenticity of anonymous reviews and ratings on Glassdoor to confidently make decisions about jobs and companies to work for,” said Cara Barry, Glassdoor Sr. Director of Trust & Safety. “Glassdoor’s moderation team is constantly evolving our multi-tier technological and human review processes to prevent fake reviews on our platform, but we recognise that we must continue to innovate with new approaches. • Tripadvisor

“The trust that consumers and partners have in our platforms and businesses is a top priority for the members of this coalition, all of whom agreed to join together to fight fake review content on the Internet. To further maintain the credibility and authenticity of reviews on our platforms, we aim to make it increasingly difficult for fraudulent actors who try to deceive our customers to operate online,” said Becky Foley, Vice President, Trust & Safety, Tripadvisor, Inc. “Combating these operators, particularly those attempting to sell fake reviews to companies looking to improve their online reputations, will be an immediate area of focus. These actors often operate outside of jurisdictions with a legal framework to shut down fraudulent activity, making robust cooperation even more important.”

  • Trustpilot

“Trust in reviews is more important now than ever before - consumers need to be confident the reviews they read are genuine, and businesses need to know the reviews being written about them are authentic and based on real experiences,” said Anoop Joshi, Chief Trust Officer at Trustpilot. “We’re constantly searching for different and innovative ways to tackle fake reviews, and the Coalition for Trusted Reviews will undoubtedly boost the fight against deception through greater sharing of information across the reviews industry and collaboration. By standing together we can make a difference by combating those who seek to undermine trust online and ensure the benefits of reviews are felt by all.”

Coalition for Trusted Reviews Conference 2024:

The Coalition for Trusted Reviews held its 2024 Conference in London in October in London. It was an invaluable opportunity for industry leaders and regulators to come together to discuss how best to safeguard reliable and authentic consumer reviews worldwide. With attendees from the U.K, EU and U.S., the Coalition remains committed to providing opportunities for like-minded individuals across the review ecosystem to collaborate around the challenges and opportunities ahead for maintaining the integrity of online reviews. The day also saw the launch of the Coalition’s new website and its best practices for preserving trusted reviews online!

With a packed agenda, we heard from regulators, industry, legal and regulatory experts about the latest developments in consumer protection and efforts to promote trustworthy reviews online. The day kicked off with panels dedicated to exploring regulations across the UK and EU and their impact on businesses and consumers. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from Coalition members about how they are working collaboratively to combat fake reviews and most effectively tackle bad actors. The afternoon was dedicated to horizon scanning and collective discussions on the future role that the Coalition can play going forward in supporting user-generated reviews-hosting businesses.
